I witnessed some of his behavior over a few days at last year's Stellafane
convention. I have only met a few more obnoxious persons than John Dobson
in my entire life. As far as I could tell, he is an enormous show-off. His
method of dealing with any dissent -- as far as I could tell -- from his
ideas is to yell, "Oh, shut up!" at the expresser of the dissent.
Yet he complains about the scientific establishment forbidding any
disagreement with the standard big-bang cosmological theory of the creation
of the universe. And his own counter-theory to that standard model is
nothing but hand-waving and theoretical moonshine.
