MY (10") blank is "standard" thickness -- over 1.8". 
Will these (thin mirror) support issues you are discussing be critical to
_me_ during grinding/polishing/testing?

My grinding stand is a 55 gallon drum with a 5/8" plywood top which I
cover with a THICK layer of newspapers while grinding.
