Based on a suggestion from Ken Hunter I've analyzed an 8 sided truss that
is a truncated pyramid...the base is larger than the upper ring by a factor
of 1.414 (square root of 2). It is roughly twice as stiff as the typical 8
member truss in which upper and lower rings are same size.
