Hey...I finally got around to changing the discs in the changer...
Got that Donnie Iris CD in (very 80s, eh?). Recognized a couple of the
tunes...Gotta cop the Razor and Tie addy from your disc so I can get
myself a catalog
Then a 2 disc set called Essential Women in the Blues. A House of
Blues disc with all sorts of classics from folks like Koko Taylor, Ida
Cox, Ruth Brown, Sister Rosetta Tharp, Alberta Hunter, Bessie Smith,
Etta James, Saffire, Victoria Spivey...and I haven't even mentioned
anyone off the second disc! Found it on sale during a late night run to
Borders last week.
Fanning the Flames-a new one from Maria Muldaur. Nope, it's nothing
like her old "Midnight at the Oasis" stuff. It's a very bluesy album
featuring guest artists like Sonny Landreth, Mavis Staples and Bonnie
Raitt. This was a Christmas present from a friend who heard it on
public radio and fell in love with the disc.
That Rolling Stones disc featuring R&B covers (think you borryed that
one eons ago)
And Silence by Tara MacLean. Moody, folky...you ever heard the cut "Let
her feel the Rain" on the River? Not sure if Nettwerk's released it
here.
NP--Silence-Tara MacLean
