Assuming I can baffle the sky light away from the eyepiece are there any
negative image problems which may occur such a added optical aberrations or
excessive coma?

No - a flat is a flat is a flat. The biggest issues are baffling, and
apparent diagonal outline (at some angle of reflection, it's better to go
with a spherical flat than a traditional diagonal that's shaped 1.4:1). You
may also want to include a tertiary flat right underneath the focuser to
make the 'look into the eyepiece' angle as comfortable as possible.
