The mask will be useful or not, depending on its type, filters condition
and other factors which are not easily controllable.

Creating dust and wearing mask does not help others in the vicinity wearing
no mask. Dust can settle down and became airborne later when children will
be around or other unprotected persons.

Creating cloud of glass dust is  asocial kind of behavior.
