The way Duke3d and doom work is each character has 8 different "sprites"...
one for each direction, so what the game does is calculates the characters
angle and matches it with the nearest direction... (which only gives you 45,
90, 135, 180 ... etc) so really, the characters are indeed flat... which
also goes for the weapons and ammo, which are only drawn in 1 direction so
it looks the same no matter which angle you are looking at it from. No
goldeneye has 3d characters and enemies, so wherever you look at them from,
you get a realistic view, and they look a hell of a lot better than eniems
in the games you mentioned... and BTW, rise of the triad SUCKED... apogee
says it was better than doom... what a joke... in ROTT, all the levels had
the same floor and ceiling heights, so you couldnt accomplish steps,
platforms etc, except by the use of floating sprites which looked horrible.
ROTT was a bomb... anyways, cya L8r
