subject: It is time

It is with a sad heart I announce that The TAO BBS will be closing its
hub/host operations for all networks it currently carries. This includes
RaceNet, RelayNet, FidoNet, Sysop TechNet and MirageNet. This also
includes several of the different gateways we currently operate between
several of the networks. This will all take place as of July 15, 2004.

Online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since July 1986, with not more then
a few hours down time at any given point, it is time to bring this
chapter to a close.

We will still be maintaining our node numbers in the different networks
(except RaceNet) and polling a few echos for personal use, but we will
not be pulling in the full network feeds and distributing them to
others. Here is a run down of the different networks and their staus.

RaceNet - As owner and net administrator of this network, RaceNet will
be closed down. Sean Rima, who has worked with me for many, many years
was going to take over the network and keep it going. However, he had a
major system crash and has closed his BBS operations down.

I want to take this time to thank all of the users and SysOps who have
made RaceNet a great success over the past 18 years. Without each and
every one of you, it would not have been possible.

The name RaceNet and/or RaceNet International Motorsports Network is
still owned by me and may not be used without my permission.

RelayNet - All host operations for this network will be closed. This
includes the gateway operations with RaceNet. We are trying to get all
of our feeds a new home, but at this point in time, not a single RIME
SysOp has answered the call. So, as of the 15th, there will be no more
feed, which may wake there SysOps up. We will be keeping things running
until the 11th hour, just in case someone needs help obtaining a new
feed. We will be polling a few echos for our personal use. Will maintain
my 900:104/1377 node number.

FidoNet - I have turned NC132 duties over to Doug Connor. As the new
NC132, he will be feeding any net132 SysOps still around. I will be
polling a few of the Fido echos for personal use. Will maintain my
1:132/360 node number.

MirageNet - All hub operations will be closed down. I will continue to
poll a few echos for personal use. Will maintain my 90:102/10 node
number.

SysOp TechNet - All hub operations will be closed down. I will continue
to poll a few echos for personal use. Will maintain my 111:4603/201 node
number.

Well, I guess that's about it. It has been fun folks. Even though I will
not be as active as in the past, I will still be lurking around for some
time to come.

Thank you everyone!

Bob Watson, SysOp
