Larry,

The 27 point setup below gives 2.50893e-06 mm RMS (about 1/200 wave) and 1.637e-
05 mm P-V (about 1/30 wave) residual deformation.  This isn't bad, and it
is better than I got with a quick run of John Dudgeon's 36-point setup. 
This was obtained from the "stock" 27 point setup in Plop with
varying angles.
