Sort of. There are a couple of hundred different viruses that cause the
‘common cold’; a handful of them are indeed coronaviruses.
For my money HCoV-OC43 is the most interesting of them. It’s a candidate
(although not the only one) for the 1889-1890 pandemic, based on the
inferred time of its initial transmission into humans and the pandemic’s
similarity to COVID-19 symptoms (primarily hit the old, respiratory
symptoms, etc). It also has a possible (although currently quite
unclear) connection to MS.
