You're going to start this stuff up too, huh? ;-)

It isn't questionable at all. Welcome to ST_Programming. If you guys
don't like it, I welcome and invite you to start a new message network
called Falcon030_Programming. The ST was here first, and it's not about
to be evicted!

And as long as we're puttin' the dinosaur label on things, you are
aware, are you not, that the 68030 in your Falcon is at least three
generations behind Motorola's current techology? The 68030 has been
superceded by the 68040, the 68060, and the PowerPC 601 RISC. People
who live in Jurassic houses shouldn't throw bones!

I'm glad that you are grinning when you say that. Hope you're still
grinning after I ask when ARE you going to upgrade your tired old 030
box, anyway? :-)

Seems like a pretty dumb, annoying question, doesn't it? I think this
has been explained several times before, but since we're into beating
very dead horse corpses here, allow me to give you a detailed multiple
choice answer sheet which you can use to devine the reasons why any
particular individual has not purchased a new Atari Falcon030. Print
this out, then the next time you run into someone with an Atari ST,
circle the one you prefer:

1) Some people have fallen on difficult financial times and cannot
afford a new computer. Awwwwwwwww.... :-(
2) Atari isn't making the Falcon030 anymore, making people nervous about
investing in it.
3) People are starting to make price comparisons between 040, 060 and
PPC based systems and the 16MHz Atari Falcon030. Some find the Atari
product overpriced in comparsion. Darn! :-(
4) Some folks feel that it is none of anyone's business what computer
they choose to buy or not to buy, nor do they care to justify themselves
to anyone.
5) Atari ST owners may be looking at the C-Lab Falcon as an alternative,
but are waiting for the price to come down.
6) Others are waiting to see if the C-Lab Falcon is going to have any
market success at all, or whether it will just fade away by next year.
7) For some people, an ST does everything they want and have no need to
upgrade even though they could afford it. Yikes! :-(
8) Owners of old STs plan to keep their old machines even after they
upgrade, because some old software won't run on the new machines.
9) Don't criticise a man's computer until you're ready to buy him a new
one. This is a variation on the old quip "put up or shut up!" :-)
10) Some folks are trying to decide whether they'd rather spend their
upgrade dollars on the new Amiga 4000T, which start shipping in the US
market next week.
11) Some people got their ST recently, and are not ready to upgrade just
yet - a situation which will exist for some time as more old STs make
their way from bedroom closets to swap meets.
12) Some people are afraid to try something new.
13) Quite a few old ST owners thought they could get a substantial
amount from the resale value of their system, discovering too late how
untrue that was. OUCH! :-(
14) Collecting antique computers is becoming more popular.
15) With no local dealers, folks who don't trust mail order are pretty
much stuck with what they already have.
16) "Can't we all just get along?"
17) The ST is still on-topic, isn't it?
18) Some ST owners are ready to upgrade, but they're waiting to see if
they can find a used TT030 for less than 1/2 the price of a used
Atari Falcon030!
