On 10 Aug 97, after being hired as WNBA commissioner, Ed Grinnell said:

Who cares? Why should a team that's never played a game dictate to a sport
with more than 100 years of tradition? I think Arizona should be happy to go
where they're told. Period.
EG> They could fix that alignment with one change -- keep Arizona in the NL

EG> intact (KC moves over from the AL) and puts two rivalries into motion -
EG> Texas vs Houston and Arizona vs Colorado.
How you going to handle scheduling with 15 teams per league? Either you have
interleague play every day or at least one team in each league is off every
day.
EG> The NFL may be the NFL, however, it's members still identify themselves
EG> as either AFL or NFL.
They do? That's news to me. I've been a Chiefs fan for almost 30 years and
I've never known them to identify themselves as an AFL team (at least not
since they really were an AFL team).
... Chiefs over Raiders - 7 out of last 8; 13 out of last 15!
