I should add that probably my situation isn't helped by the fact that --
according to PCI.EXE -- my system's "ROM PCI IRQ routing table appears
to be faulty!!" -- many instances of table entries pointing to bus 255,
device 0. I know that there's an option in the acpi.cfg file to load a
new table, but I have no idea how to create one.
ISTM that despite the difficulty of getting ACPI to work *properly* with
this mobo (if not with all nVidia mobos), it does work well enough to
satisfy the Adaptec 160 card, and that if I do decide to upgrade to a
U320 card, an Adaptec may well be easier to get working properly. If I
have understood Pasha's ACPI docs. properly, the advantage of the nVidia
system is that cards (well-behaved ones, at least) can still be accessed
via their PCI IRQs without having to bother with the APIC ones.
