out what you did to get EAs working on yours.

the Sambaclient plugin. I am using IBM Peer without problems, but I cannot
get the Samba plugin under Netdrive to do the same trick. The smbcd.exe
keeps crashing without a trace in the logfile. I am using Netdrive 3.1.0
(registered version) and the samba plugin is:ndpsmb-3.0.27a-20071129.

Frank,

Sorry for the late response. Someone has posted the answer to your samba
question which worked for me.

Now to the EAs, the mediavault will run a script during boot which was
listed on the yahoo group: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/HPMediaVault/

In that script I start twonky media server, copy smb.conf and restart
samba, and start syslogd.

The mediavault firmware is compiled with EAs enabled but the smb.conf
file can not be configured to enable them and the smb.conf changes do
not last past normal change.

So, I run the following at boot:

#!/bin/sh

# copy over smb.conf with ea support enabled
cp /shares/Volume1/ShareApps/opt/etc/smb.conf /tmp/samba/lib/smb.conf
/usr/local/samba/bin/smbcontrol smbd reload-config

This is an example of a smb.conf file I restart with, notice
ea support = yes

[sysbackups]
        comment =
        path = /shares/Volume2/sysbackups
        writeable = yes
        browsable = yes
        inherit permissions = yes
        inherit acls = yes
        ea support = yes
        msdfs root = no

        write list = "mgreene",
