So, not bad for something that hasn't really seen the light of day in 
what, 8+ years?

We're both right... I said it can't be used on any form of removable 
media, and your post says that it's locked while it's in use - thus, 
unremovable.

That's a ZIP, though - not an LS120.  I'd expect similar restrictions.

Question is, why do you still have one, and why do you still want to use 
it?  If memory serves, these things were S-L-O-W, and a newer CD-RW 
drive with packet writing could easily out-perform it (without the 
locking/shutdown restriction) and with 700MB of capacity instead of 
120MB, easily out-last it for multiple backups and such...

Me, I can't stand putting power to a hard drive more than five years old 
- the noise kills me.  Going to a ZIP drive or LS120 or Orb or Syquest 
would be like switching back from 8 megabit cable internet to dial-up. :)

I only use floppies now if I have no other choice - an LS120 is just a 
very large floppy!
