Hi Alan,

as I am sure you know, in an ideal world you do not mix interface
(U160, U320, U2W) types on one chain and the recommendation I have
always been told is never put a tape drive on the same adapter as a SCSI
disk. Any of these actions (despite one would think different lines are
in use) can, it is said, cause performance and possibly data corruption
problems.

You say however that this configuration has been working fine for some
time, which would suggest with the old hardware all worked well
together. Perhaps the new drive simply does not like this mixed
environment. Is there any way you can isolate the new drive on its own
interface of the SCSI card ?

Cheers/2

Ed.
