I am coming to the conclusion that the motherboard has a problem. I've
tried three different SCSI cards in two different PCI slots and with
two different cables and terminators. Sometimes I cannot get into the
BIOS of any of the SCSI cards; sometimes the SCSI card "signs on" but
then can't find any devices; sometimes I get strange error messages or
just plain garbage from the SCSI adapter (e.g., "PMM failed deallocate
function" or "configuration invalid" or a display consisting mostly of
question marks from the Adaptec card, or some graphics characters from
either of the LSILogic cards). Sometimes I cannot get into the mobo
BIOS. Sometimes it will not boot from a CD.

I booted it from a volume on the SATA drive, but I can't get much done
before it all freezes. The last couple of times I tried to restart eCS
I got a Trap 0008 just before the Desktop should have displayed (I'm
writing this now on a Windozzze machine.) I've tried reinstalling
eCS2.0RC4, but the machine freezes before it gets very far --
sometimes even before I've finished selecting options.

I hooked the SCSI drives to the U2W connector on an old Asus P2B-LS
and was able to get everything off them.

I know some people do not like Asus motherboards, but this is the
first one in more than 15 years that I've had reason to suspect of
having a problem. I wonder how tedious their RMA process is.
