Well, I was not proposing 24 meter towers...just two to four meters...or
whatever is within reason with simple materials, such as metal conduit
pipe, etc.  The temperature sensor could be a thermistor.  In the US such a
thermistor is a couple dollars, and then you use a resistance meter to
measure temperature.

There is a Pickering Scale that describes quality of seeing...that was
designed for a five inch aperture.  Do a google search on it, or in the ATM
archives.

But also keep track of temperatures and other local weather data...you may
detect some interesting trends.
