Dale, I have no experience with lightwieght telescope structures. I do
have experience with lightwieght
"Pool Enclosures". I work in an industry that has been changed by
..wind.. namely ANDREW...
I work with the lightest metal on the low cost end ... Aluminum. By no
means am I an expert, but I do
know that there is flex in aluminum. I have seen many changes in
regulations to insure that these
structures DON'T tear apart and fly around.
Now back to my inexperience of lightwieght telescopes. Anchor
of the base would be my first
job, whether it be wieghts or god forbid fixed anchors. I am sorry I just
look at this as building a kite.
This thing is bound to fly,,.. or tip or flip. I don't want my "mirror"
flipping down or around...
Please tell me how I am wrong. Do you live in an area that has no
wind?, Do you live in an area
that never has a thunder storm. A lightwieght telescope is a beautiful
thing but it must have care
and attention as to where you position it and the outside conditions
unless you have it positioned
in a fixed controlled area. A thought from a windy , stormy area of the
country... RJ
PS I do understand that most astronomers secure their scopes with
inpending weather but usually
it it just a tarp and a brick to hold the cage down.. RJ
