      Sounds like a stray grit got a hold of your surface. I would not go
back too far.... Don't panic!!
Go back and clean everything... I mean everything!...  After you feel you
and your working area is
clean, go back one grit. Grind as you did before and if after a couple of
wets the scar if still on the
face of the glass, (I don't think it will be) then go back one more grit.
Don't jump back so far..
                                                Things aren't happening fast
on your glass, you are...relax...clean up!!
