Hello Rob, -=> Quoting Rob Mccart to Peter Coggon <=- RM> No, I don't think she really had the right stuff to do the job. RM> RM> She was the sacrificial lamb and probably purposely chosen for her RM> gender to make Mulroney look more open minded on his way out.. She must of realized that afterwards, as she did make a quick exit from politics... at least thats what I feel. Nowadays she appears on TVO from time to time ...but doesn't feel at ease being associated with Mr. Mulroney. RM> But the election is over with a massive majority Liberal (Democrat) RM> gov't. I expected that but not to the extent it ended up. 71 to 26 RM> Even The leader of the PC's (Republican), John Tory, lost his own RM> riding (district?). He had this great speech about how he's made RM> such great progress for the PC party but just not enough to win RM> the election. Good thing noone bothered to ask him how that jives RM> with the fact that they lost worse this time than last time. RM> About 50% voter turnout, down from the usual 60 - 65%. RM> I *believe* the new voting system got trash canned too.. Well you know the percentage so no point. I was surprised at the numbers who rejected the MMP vote. I am glad that , while it was not really explained, people saw the party hacks that taxpayers would have to pay for their services. Mr. Tory ... Well what can I say. When he was with Rogers as their President , he did make some greedy comments about people, and if I was in Toronto I would have certainly remembered them. I was a customer once and I got a really bad note from him, and he never wanted to talk on the phone when I asked to speak to higher ups. SO... his candidate up here got my message for him. I also did not like what he had to say about the Native Claims that are dragging through the courts of this Province and the rest of Canada. Mr. Tory forgot, that the peoples he is dealing with never were, nor wanted to be a part of Canada. They only aided Canada during the wars with the USA 1776 and 1812 and wanted what they were given, but were faked out of via "In Trust" situations and left to never be ressolved. For the rest of us, we have bill of sale and a deed ... and these people in Caledonia want their deed from 1781 recognized which it has been just conviently forgotten like those greedy citizens there who'd be jumping if the deed they have were terminated too! Tory want people arrested for protesting something that has gone too far. Mohawks were never defeated by any army.... OKA 20 years later has never been ressolved.... RM> Oddly, after all our talking about it, I totally forgot the vote was RM> today until about 7 pm. My participation wouldn't have mattered RM> much anyways seeing as the local PC guy won it by about 5000 votes. RM> It's been PC (Republican) here almost forever. Same here... our PC won it again, but the Liberal was quite close and behinf him the Green Party. I actually know both the candidates for the Liberal and Green Party, so I had to vote because of what I knew of them both personally. I didn't and I never feel my vote was wasted, even if they did loose. I would vote again the same way. The incumbent always percentagewise has the upper hand. Sorry for bring up the Native issues, but my community here is Cree and it was the Cree Community, that were there for me and my family when I needed help so much after a death in the family. ttfn Peter RM> -!- GTMail 1.26 RM> !
