¯ Paul was discussing "Perfect rifle" with Wayne. ®
PL¯ I agree wtih you on the SKS and AK sights: they could be better.
PL¯ I know the SKS uses a tilting bolt lock-up like the FAL, bur how
PL¯ about the AK I never had one so I don't know.
It uses a rotary type lock-up, a bit like the M-16's...
PL¯ BTW, there is a gent from England on this echo and he is a
PL¯ retired SAS who fought in the Falklands "disgreement" with
PL¯ Argetina. He said that the English version of the FAL was famous
PL¯ for "gas stoppage" after a number or shots. He claims that's why
PL¯ the British army replaced it with the SA-80 (bullpup desgn).
PL¯ Now that blew me off, because I naver hear anything negatinve
PL¯ about the FAL, nor anything positive about the SA-8 Do you have
PL¯ any opinion to share with us? Thx.
I'm no expert on the FAL. I've shot quite a few of them on the
range, but I've never put one through the kind of hard usage that
one would see on a battlefield though. I've also never owned one,
so I don't know all that much about them, other than the fact they
seem to have an excellent reputation, and have been used in almost
as many "brushfire wars" as any of the AK line...
I know absolutely ZERO about the SA-80 except what it looks like.
I don't remember hearing much about that weapon at all. It
-=looks=- like an awkward beast though...

Buttermilk and Glock pistols: Two things people either love or hate.
... Combat: Recoilless weapons - aren't.
