Sounds like you're having muscle cramps.
There are only two things I think might affect them:
1. I've read that, in men especially, not drinking enough
water on a daily basis can allow night-time leg cramps.
2. There is also a nutritional "cure", I think. Potassium
can help eliminate muscle cramps.
You might be able to Google "leg cramps" or something like
that and see what pops up!
