From: "Jerry B. Hillman" To: "Ray Desmarais" Cc: Reply-To: "Jerry B. Hillman" Hi all, I solved the sling problem on my 10" by making the sling mounts part of the cell that the mirror mounts on. This backing plate is what the collimation bolts are attached to. Therefore, backing plate, the mirror, the points that the mirror rests on, and the sling move as a single unit. I attached small leather pads to the points for the mirror to rest on, so that it would be free to move the small amounts necessary as it adjusts to tempurature changes. The sling is made of nylon with fine wire embedded in it. (Electric fence tape) This arrangement seems to work perfectly on this mirror. It hold collimation very well and stays collimasted throughout an evenings viewing session. I intend to duplicate this arrangement on my 16" as far as the sling goes. I still haven't decided exactly how I am going to design the mirror support. Clear skies, Jerry --- BBBS/NT v4.00 MP* Origin: Email Gate (1:379/1.100) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/1 633/267 |
