DB> On _Waiting For Herb_ I do like the song, Tuesday Morning..
Oh yeah, so do I. It even got quite a lot of airplay on WRXQ/Memphis, the
local 'Alternative Rock' station. It's the /only/ Pogues song that I've
ever heard played on a mainstream radio station.
RM>> .._Rum Sodomy & the Lash_ and _Red Roses For Me_. They're very, VERY
RM>> strong albums, only a tick behind _IISFFGWG_..After that _Hells Ditch_,
RM>> _Peace & Love_, and _Pogue Mahone_, in that order.
DB> Cool, that will help me out a lot..Thanks!
Hey, my pleasure! Always happy to help a fledgling Pogues fan!
There are also a couple of fine EPs, _Poguetry In Motion_ and _Yeah, Yeah,
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah_. _Yeah x5_ is still widely available, but _PiM_ is out of
print. A pity, too, as it contains my favorite Pogues song of all, "Planxty
Noel Hill". And if you're still solvent after all that, consider the concert
video _Live at the Town and Country_. It's a bit uneven, but does offer some
fine moments.
DB> Hmmm....so much music so little time.
Don't I know it!
DB> Maybe I'll check out the "Popes" first.
Nah, get _Rum Sodomy & the Lash_ and _Red Roses For Me_ next, if you can
find them. Those two are /exceptional/, _The Snake_ is merely very good.
DB> Shane has a distinctive voice--to say the least!
That he does!
DB> Yeah, St. Patrick's day is a blast There are a lot of good
DB> musicians around here playing the traditional style of music.
Around here, it's not the major occasion that is in, say, Boston or NYC.
I've attended some world-class St. Paddy's Day bashes in Chicago, too.
DB> ..the conclusion is that I have a lot of great music to get to
DB> listening to.
Please post your impressions on this stuff, when you find it!
DB> I appreciate your help.
Think nothing of it.
