subject: ATM Gritty water?

Thanks for the mention of potential grit issues in water. I had completely
forgotten about that possibility (last mirror was made in 1988).

On a side note, I got rid of my scratch (it was much deeper than I had
thought) and am now the soul of cleanliness in my work area! I had to go
back to 240 for about an hour and got it worked out. Now I'm on to 25 AO. I
am using it mixed in water and plan to do so with the rest of the grades.
Anyone have any pointers as to how think a mixture to use? Newport Glass'
site suggests 1 tablespoon in a half cup of water. Is this sufficient? It
seems very dilute. Also, is it necessary/beneficial to add a drop or two of
soap to the mix?

Thanks for the kind words and useful suggestions on fixing the scratch
thing. I am not the most patient person and this project is making me slow
down and take my time and your encouragement is a great help.
