subject: Canadian Troops Come Home

Hello Rob.

-=> Quoting Rob Mccart to Peter Coggon <=-

RM> Was pretty warm here.. In fact o warm a bunch of teeny flies
RM> decided spring had come early and hatched out in the billions.

If all the spraying has killed the birds and bats...they'll be
festing ... sort of a Thanksgiving for them.

RM> I'm sort of in the woods here and at their mercy. They seem
RM> able to walk right through the glass.. Okay, this is an old
RM> place not sealed up the best but the windows all have screens
RM> plus they are closed anyways, but that doesn't seem to be
RM> stopping them.. I'm busy squashing them all over my monitor screen
RM> since that's the only light on in the house in a vain attempt
RM> to try to not attact more of them inside. I thought this was
 RM> done with summer gone..

Your locale sounds like ours here .... better then the city?

RM> No, and I'm not sure I like the idea of all those extra
RM> seats that have to be paid for..

Well thats what this proportional thing is about...adding more seats
thus more lawyers and used car salesmen at the public expense.

RM> But a minoriity gov't almost guarantee more elections because
RM> it's too easy to force an election when the opposition feels
RM> a shift in support. And nothing can be put through without
RM> 'deals' being made, and in most cases deals are expensive.

It does force them to debate and make changes and the people are
hear via many ways. They know they must not topple a minority
as the public does not like elections and all the BS connected
with it...Also same can be said for the party organizers.

RM> This is true, although usually our turnout is pretty good
RM> regardless, better than most countries that don't force
RM> people to vote (Australia), which I think is a really bad idea.

Here it was for local last time 66% and that is average...Not
good but then most here think they really have no voice, just
some hustler bugging them at the door or pumping their arm on the
street.

RM> The only thing worse than a country full of people who don't
RM> know enough about what's going on to vote would be forcing
RM> those people to vote. If they aren't voting for the guy with
RM> the best hairstyle they'll be purposely voting just to mess
RM> up the system in protest..

I wonder if it is already messed up enough...that those 66% know
it.

RM> Maybe, but a lot of them get in there expecting to be able
RM> to do things and later find out they are impossibe without
RM> other party support, which they don't get, or they walk into
RM> a much worse fiscal disaster than expected and the money just
 RM> isn't there.

Or...party whip says WE paid for you...WE own you...YOU will
vote the way WE say and not the way you think and promised.

RM> And of course voters respond best to bribes. They all
RM> want a piece of the 'surplus'.. Right.. surplus when we
 RM> are over $500 Billion in debt. That's like getting a $10 a
RM> week raise at work and wondering what to spend it on when
 RM> you have a $10,000 Visa balance..

I thought the FEDS had a surplus of 30 Million?

PC>Wheres the rest of the Cannucks in Ontario on this one?

RM> Hiding until it's over, and then they'll be looking for
 RM> someone to blame... B)

RM> Have a good one Peter TTYL

Yeah :( ... I know 2 candidates in my area personally, and
this year I will be voting, because here they both have done
things for everyone enough to gain my consideration. I
wonder now if they will be my "friend" after their first year
in office? Hope so....

you too ...
