GG>As a Texan I am happy to quote the wiki on George Dubyah Bush...

GG>"Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Bush was the first child of George H.
  >W. Bush and Barbara Bush (n~e Pierce). He was raised in Midland and
  >Houston, Texas, with his four siblings, Jeb, Neil, Marvin and Dorothy.
  >Another younger sister, Robin, died from leukemia at the age of three in
  >1953.[17] Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, was a U.S. Senator from
  >Connecticut. Bush's father, George H. W. Bush, served as U.S. Vice
  >President from 1980 to 1988 and U.S. President from 1989 to 1993."

GG> NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
GG> NOT TEXAS.

So you're gonna pull a 'Dixie Chick' and disown him ??? B)

I won't get into a lot of politics here. I'm sure there are other
areas if people want to discuss such things but I think a lot of people
were happy to see Bush gone. I think he had a lot of personal interests
and issues that influenced his decisions and some of those didn't work
out so well in retrospect.

One thing I did run across recently that I found interesting was a
book by a 'brit' where there was a lot of talk about how the religious
right is affecting politics in the USA. (The Sign by Raymond Khoury)
He quoted a lot of things but two of them that stood out that I found
of interest were...

"I recall the election in 2004. Hollywood was against us. The Media was
against us. The Universities were against us. And despite them all the
church of Jesus Christ put George W. Bush back in the White House.
We're on the winning side. We are going to win because we have the truth.
We have the inerrant word of God." Jerry Falwell

And the probable explanation for that statement...

"If people aren't involved in helping Godly men in getting elected, then
we're going to have a generation of secular laws. That's not what our
founding fathers intended and that certainly isn't what God intended.
We need to take back this country.. and if we don't get involved as
Christians, then how could we possibly take it back ? If you are not
electing Christians, tried and true, under public scrutiny an pressure,
if you're not electing Christians then in essence you are going to
legislate sin. Florida is key with regard to a shift in this nation,
and no doubt these elections in Florida are key as well."
Katherine Harris, secretary of State in Florida, on why she chose not to
allow a recount of the Florida vote despite numerous charges of election
fraud and irregularity, and with Al Gore trailing George W. Bush by only
several hundred votes in the contest for Florida's electoral votes,
thereby handing George W. Bush the election.

------------------------

This is in no way intended to say anything against a person's religion.
I just happen to believe in the separation of church and state because
it seems that whenever the two get too solidly intertwined things get
just a little bit crazy. I don't think you can use 2000 year old texts
as your source to run a country or write the laws for the world of today.
