Among the distinguished military veterans dedicated in this Honored Wing, The
LIBRADO DE LA GUARDIA Military Family Wing has today been installed on The
American War Library.

In an appeal by the President of the United States, The Secretary of Defense and
the Director of Central Intelligence seeking volunteers, Private First Class
Librado De La Guardia, United States Army, enlisted along with thousands of
courageous young Cuban Americans to serve as a Combat Infantryman in immediate
and direct response to the severe Communist threat posed during the Cuban
