Technically speaking you are right.

And Yet my opinion is that in this particular case there was no serious violation of
the list rules.
Don, although professional builder of  telescope related equipment, is very
active member of the list, sharing with us his first hand experience and
knowledge .
Not very common among  profies.
My opinion is that practically each of his postings was technically sound
and first class engineering advice or comment worth remembering.

Fine example of what Tom Kreici is advocating. On this occasion I found his
words worth quoting:

>digging for objective evaluation of techniques and performance.  Sadly,
>that leaves this list (and ATM websites) often sounding like 'on-line
>oral tradition' instead of the 'valuable resource of ideas, principles,

Don is one of the best examples of " diggers for objective
evaluation....". Therefore I find it natural to inform the list about
the opportunity to look at the final product which resulted from
application of his original ideas
 which he shared with us so unselfishly.
