Do the same that you've done for grinding. Make sure you are random about
the angles. At the end of figuring, make sure your motions result in even
wear all around (i.e. turn the mirror an integral number of rotations). I
mark the edge of my mirror with a sharpie for this purpose.

Subject: ATM Polishing rotation
I am working on my mirror on a lazy susan style platform rather than on a
barrel due to space limitations. I plan on making a new, grit-free setup of
the same sort for polishing. During grinding I have been doing a few
strokes then turning the tool a bit then turning the whole turntable a
1/8th turn or so. Is this the right approach for polishing as well, or do I
need to come up with a method that allows me to turn the whole thing more
or less continuously as if walking around a barrel? How about for the
figuring process (for which I am considering using a 75% lap on top per
some advice I got).
