PC>Good evening Rob .... things are cooling off here Was pretty warm here.. In fact o warm a bunch of teeny flies decided spring had come early and hatched out in the billions. I'm sort of in the woods here and at their mercy. They seem able to walk right through the glass.. Okay, this is an old place not sealed up the best but the windows all have screens plus they are closed anyways, but that doesn't seem to be stopping them.. I'm busy squashing them all over my monitor screen since that's the only light on in the house in a vain attempt to try to not attact more of them inside. I thought this was done with summer gone.. Takes one's mind off the election momentarily anyways. PC> TVO had a show about it last night, very interesting, but not >sure I want political partys making the decsions on who gets >these proportional seats. No, and I'm not sure I like the idea of all those extra seats that have to be paid for.. PC> I like minority governments, they work better because everyone >of the partys and even the independents is important to keeping >the system going, rather then doing a tiring expensive election >over and over. But a minoriity gov't almost guarantee more elections because it's too easy to force an election when the opposition feels a shift in support. And nothing can be put through without 'deals' being made, and in most cases deals are expensive. PC> Today, in the local stores, this issue is being discussed >and it seems that 70% are not voting. Thats my unofficial >poll. They hate all partys. This is true, although usually our turnout is pretty good regardless, better than most countries that don't force people to vote (Australia), which I think is a really bad idea. The only thing worse than a country full of people who don't know enough about what's going on to vote would be forcing those people to vote. If they aren't voting for the guy with the best hairstyle they'll be purposely voting just to mess up the system in protest.. PC>As for the reform , new idea, they want to know more, and >the idea of referendum to if promises are broken rightaway >the call for a contract review, and impeachment of any rep >that betrays the voters trust. PC>Might make politician think twice before making promises just >to get elected, knowing they will never carry them out. Maybe, but a lot of them get in there expecting to be able to do things and later find out they are impossibe without other party support, which they don't get, or they walk into a much worse fiscal disaster than expected and the money just isn't there. And of course voters respond best to bribes. They all want a piece of the 'surplus'.. Right.. surplus when we are over $500 Billion in debt. That's like getting a $10 a week raise at work and wondering what to spend it on when you have a $10,000 Visa balance.. PC>Wheres the rest of the Cannucks in Ontario on this one? Hiding until it's over, and then they'll be looking for someone to blame... B) Have a good one Peter TTYL --- * SLMR Rob * Error: Computer possessed...
