They were very dark... and the characters were rich... there were 
aliens, but the aliens were not always so alien and some were very alien.

I still don't understand the "heart plugs" that the Harkonens used in 
the Delarentus version of dune and the absence of them in the miniseries 
done on Scifi.

The only thing that's consistent is the SandWorms.
