I was asked to put up GNU emacs on our system and I am having a little difficulty. Could any of you kind people offer any suggestions or other information to assist me? I obtained a copy of the emacs distribution (18.54) from a UNIX site. I followed the instructions as well as I could, but when compiling the file VMSFNS.C I got several pages of error messages about things not being declared withing the scope of their usage. The flavor of the messages indicated that an include file might be missing or that what I have might not be appropriate for this system. The system is a VAX 8530 running VMS V5.1-1. Questions: 1. Has anyone gotten GNU Emacs running on VMS V5.X? 2. If so what release level? 3. Where might I obtain Gnu Emacs in a VMS save set format? 4. Where might I obtain Gnu Emacs in an installation kit format? 5. Am I beating a dead horse? Please respond by e-mail. Thank you for your support.
