Written in VAX C they make it easier on poor Unix people (like me) to live on VMS machines. To wit: CD - checks the target directory for existence and will take Unix or VMS paths. PUSHD POPD CDPATH - takes a list of VMS directories in a specific symbol and defines logicals for each of the subdirectories in the list of directories. X - A procedure which takes a unix-esq command line with VMS commands and executes it. Implements to some degree '', '|' (using mailboxes), '&' (using spawn), and ';'. JOBS - companion program to X, gives current status for background jobs issued by X. KILL - kills processes or %jobno issued by X. These tools do not replace the DCL shell but rather augment it so they can be called only when needed. David Albrecht toylnd!dca or edison!dca
