I've heard that the FSF has a compiler for C++.  Is this so--that is, it's 
a true compiler and not a C++ --> C translator?  If so, I presume we could 
use the FSF debugger directly on the C++ source--is that true?  How good is
the resulting object code in terms of speed and/or time optimization?
